Customer ratings and comments are subjective. They are CUSTOMER reviews. To protect the integrity of the rating system Poplin does not change or remove customer ratings. This is the nature of ALL peer to peer review systems. It would be inappropriate for Poplin to play judge, or to interfere with the review system in any way. Once we start doing that it opens a can of worms and compromises trust in the system.
Of course, peer to peer review systems have pros and cons. One of the cons is that people sometimes lie, use the system to be vindictive, or are unfair to those they are reviewing. Again, this is true of every peer to peer review system, and there are literally millions of examples in the marketplace today. If you’re a Laundry Pro for long enough, no matter how diligent you are, you will get some bad reviews. We understand that stings. But it’s important to interpret it within the context of a subjective peer to peer review system, where some reviews will be unfavorable, some unfair, some even given by people who might not be 100% cogent, some by people who misunderstood how Poplin works, some by people who thought they placed an order with a different company…and some by people who we can’t imagine what in the world they were thinking.
But, in the long run, overall, the system serves its purpose, and has many more pros than cons.
It’s also worth noting that Poplin’s point and rating system is relative. In other words, your points determine your rank. And your rank determines how many orders you get access to. The system is designed to favor and reward the best Laundry Pros who provide the highest quality service to our customers. So it’s a competition, in a sense, with all Laundry Pros playing by the same rules, subject to the same occasional unfair review. No one gets singled out. The irony is that reviews are sometimes unfair, but they are unfair to everyone, so that’s fair :)
We are so incredibly proud of our group of Laundry Pros. In our opinion, you are all very skilled. It takes real skill to care. We know you fold meticulously (even while watching TV), include hand-written notes, seal delivery bags with beautiful ribbon, message with friendly updates, and take pride in delighting customers. But what we’re most proud of, by far, is the thousands of dollars you have found in jean pockets and returned with notes in a Ziploc bag. Our review is completely subjective, of course, it’s biased, and it can’t be deleted, but we give you all 5 stars and a hearty “THANK YOU.”
