1. Join Facebook Groups
Join as many relevant facebook groups in your area as you can:
- “[your area] Moms”
- “Families of [your area]”
- “[your neighborhood name]”
- “Home services in [your area]”
- “Seniors of [your area]”
- “Working parents of [your area]”
2. Post as often as you're allowed to
Be sure to follow the rules of each group regarding self-promotion. Many groups have strict rules about what can be posted & when. If they only allow self-promotion on one day a week, wait for that day to make your posts.
Make posts that feel organic: feel free to copy & paste the below message for your post.
“Life at home can be so jam-packed, and laundry can pile up faster than you know what to do with it. We have all been there, including myself - and there are so many things we’d rather be doing than washing, drying, and folding clothes. So… how about letting a Poplin Laundry Pro (me!) give you one less thing to worry about?
Service includes:
- Wash, Dry & perfect Folding 👔
- Hang-dry Options (no additional cost) 👗
- Starting at less than $2/Ib 💰
- Free Pickup & Next-day Delivery 🚚💨
If you’re interested in this service or have any questions, leave a comment. I’ll send you a link to sign up and get $20 off your first order, plus me as your Laundry Pro!”
Pro-tip: instead of including your referral link in the post, request for comments. We’ve seen this successful for the following reasons:
- Requesting for comment gives group members an easy 1st step to start the conversation. Instead of “here’s a link if your interested… you’re on your own.”, this welcomes conversation & makes people feel comfortable giving their laundry to you. Once someone comments “I’m interested”, respond letting them know that you direct-messaged them. This way, you don’t reply with your referral link for everyone else to see & you can continue to bring in comments. These comments will also improve the rank & therefore reach of your posts (see tip 3 for further detail).
- This will enable you to list out all your interests & make follow ups. “Hey, I know you were interested in trying Poplin. Were you able to place your 1st order yet? I’d love to be able to take laundry off your plate this weekend :)”
Include Delivery Photos: if you don't have beautiful delivery photos handy, feel free to use the ones below. People are visual.
Permission has been given to use these delivery photos in your marketing.
Keep an eye on your DMs: Potential customers might DM with interest and/ or questions so make sure you check-in periodically.
3. Mastering Facebooks Algorithm
The Facebook Algorithm determines what people see every time they check Facebook and in what order that content shows up. Essentially, the algorithm evaluates every post. It scores content and then arranges it in descending order of interest for each individual user.
Here’s how to be successful with Facebooks algorithm:
Don't forget the SOCIAL in social media -- Facebook prioritizes posts that spark conversations and generate meaningful interactions between users. Posts that don’t receive engagement (I.E., reactions & comments) will see a decrease in reach.
Requesting comments & making sure your post is casual is the best way to do this (as suggested in Step 1).
Reputation Matters
Facebook's algorithm tries to predict how a post will perform based on your previous posts’ engagement history. If you’re a Top Contributor in your group, meaning Facebook has badged you as being someone who people listen & respond to, you’ll have a high chance of your posts being successful. If you’re new to the group or have no post track record (or, a track record of posting non-engaging content), then you’ll have a lower chance of far-reaching engagement.
Think of yourself as walking into a new social circle. You can’t just start promoting your business. It’ll feel forced & people won’t respond well to it. You have to introduce yourself, make small talk, and be engaging so that people will (1) listen to you (2) respond to you (3) want to come listen to what you have to say again!
Key Takeaways:
- The more comments & reactions on your posts, the better your post will perform.
- Work to establish yourself in these Facebook Groups by posting not only Poplin related content, but also engaging content like requesting for or sharing:
- family outing recommendations
- restaurant recommendations
- mom tips
- local getaways
4. The Search Tool
Within each Facebook group, you’ll be able to search for keywords where you might be able to casually insert Poplin into the conversation. Don’t just look for laundry-related posts!
Tap on the magnifying-glass icon at the top of the group & search for relevant keywords.
Relevant keywords include:
- “cleaning help”
- “housekeepers”
- “dry cleaners”
- “overwhelmed”
- “new to area”
- “laundry”
- “help at home”
- “laundromat”
- “broken appliances”
& then, join the conversation/ comments. See if Poplin can help lighten the load.

5. Ask for Referral Posts
Ask happy customers to post about their experience on social media & tag you (or include your referral link).
This can become an ongoing happy cycle. If you connect with someone through a Facebook group, consider asking them to share their experience with Poplin. A happy customer can rave about how it changed their life, and refer you again!
Here’s a message template you can use to ask your customers to help you spread the word:
“would you be kind enough to share your Poplin experience on Facebook (& local groups) with my referral link? I’d love to be able to service more of our community & I was hoping you could help me get the word out :)”
You can share your referral link with your customers by going to “My Referrals” -> “Share Referral Link”
Here are some examples of customers sharing about Poplin & their Laundry Pro:
Don’t forget, at the end of the day, what keeps a customer using Poplin is that top notch experience, feeling like their laundry delivery is a present, perfectly folded and ready to go into their dresser.
Be sure to share about your success in our Laundry Pro Facebook Community. Good luck!
